Skin Cancer Surgery

Operating facilities for Dermatology SA are at Dulwich, Salisbury, Mount Barker and Southern Specialist Centre.

When choosing a date for surgery you should consider that postoperative wound healing times may interfere with work commitments or physical activities. Sutures are removed 1 to 2 weeks following surgery.

For urgent surgical cases, we will do our best to schedule the procedure as soon as possible. he surgery is performed under local anaesthetic. You will be awake during the procedure so you do not need to fast prior to surgery. It is best to arrange for a relative or friend to bring you to and from the clinic on the day of surgery. Consideration will need to be given to your general medical problems and the medications you are taking.

Following surgery an appointment will be made so that we can discuss the pathologist's report, check that your wound is healing, and remove the sutures.
